The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) is a Government of India initiative, focused on the development of world-class infrastructure and industrial hubs across the country. NICDC’s mission is to foster economic growth by developing smart cities, industrial clusters, and multi-modal logistics hubs that integrate manufacturing, transport, and technology. The corporation is dedicated to creating ecosystems that are not only business-friendly but also sustainable, offering plug-and- play infrastructure, seamless connectivity, and sustainable urban living. Through these strategic corridors, NICDC aims to significantly boost the manufacturing sector and enhance exports.

As part of its ambitious plans, NICDC is developing 20 Greenfield Industrial Smart Cities across 11 industrial corridors. These cities are designed as integrated ecosystems, combining modern industrial parks with world-class infrastructure, including walk-to- work capabilities, single-window clearances, and multi-modal connectivity. These developments are intended to foster faster, smarter, and more sustainable industrial growth while providing high-quality living spaces. In Phase 1, four cities covering 3,124 hectares have already attracted over USD 20.6 billion in investments, generating employment for more than 100,000 people. Key projects include Dholera (Gujarat), AURIC (Maharashtra), Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), and Vikram Udyogpuri (Madhya Pradesh), showcasing India's capacity to deliver attractive investment opportunities. Further, cities such as Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Tumakuru (Karnataka) are nearing completion. The development of multi-modal logistics hubs at Nangal Chaudhary (Haryana) and Dadri (Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh) is also underway to optimize freight movement, reduce transit times, and enhance the efficiency of industrial operations.

To further accelerate the growth of NICDC’s Greenfield Smart Cities, the Government of India marked a significant milestone in August 2024 by approving 12 new industrial projects. Spanning approximately 10,512 hectares, these projects are strategically located across six major industrial corridors and form a transformative network that traces India’s Golden Quadrilateral—its most important national highway network. With comprehensive incentives and tax advantages from both State and Central Governments, these next-generation industrial ecosystems offer global investors a simplified regulatory framework, cutting-edge infrastructure, and a smooth business environment.
