A FEATHER IN THE CAP OF THE “EMBASSY OF INDIA” IN MINSK

Inauguration of the Center of Indian Culture (CIC) in the “Belarus State University, Socialistic Department” opens a new chapter in the bilateral relations of India and Belarus. It was inaugurated jointly by Her Excellency Sangeeta Bahadur, Ambassador of India to Belarus and The Rector of the university Prof. Andrey Karol by cutting of the ribbon and unveiling of the name plate of the Center of Indian Culture.
Ambassador Sangeeta Bahadur took the initiative of attending a workshop on ‘Hinglish and culture of India’ being conducted by the TIC Kirti Chordia at the University’s faculty of social and cultural communications on an invitation by Olga Kren, a senior lecturer. The Dean of Social and Communication Department Prof. Sergey Vazhnic, received the Ambassador with much warmth and over a cup of tea the idea for the ‘Center of Indian Culture’ was floated right then.
One year down from April 2019, with persistence, regular meetings, a lot of planning and hard work, the idea has turned into a reality.
The miniscule Indian community in Belarus came forward to contribute the technical equipment necessary for the functioning of the CIC. ICCR would be contributing the artifacts for the center.
A visually beautiful and unique panorama of paintings from all corners of India suggested by Kirti Chordia, have been drawn on the walls of the center making it remarkably artistic and unique. Students Team led by Anna Vahterova, Egor Phormanyuk, Veronika Shumskaya, Maria Koshel and Yulia Mishukof the Department of Communicative Designs of the university did a wonderful job of bringing the Indian styles to life on the walls of the center. Considering the fact that they experimented with Indian Schools of Paintings for the very first time, the work they have done is extremely impressive.
