Ambassador of India to the Republic of Belarus
Mr. Alok Ranjan Jha was born on 10 August 1972 in Bihar, India and joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2002. He has served in various capacities in the Indian Diplomatic Missions abroad and at the Headquarters in New Delhi.  His career, in brief, is as follows:
2002-04  Training at Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
2004-05 Third Secretary, Embassy of India, Paris.
2005-08 Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Dakar, Senegal. Mr. Jha covered political, economic, commercial and cultural issues during his stint in Dakar.
2008-11 Under Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi covering Administration and Human Resource Management.
2011-15 Deputy Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi dealing in India’s relations with countries of East and Southern Africa.
2015-17 Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva where Mr. Jha was part of the Indian delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council from January 2015 to August 2017.
2017-18 Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Kabul, Afghanistan.
2018-19 Director, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi covering India’s relations with countries of Western Europe.
2019-21 Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi heading two Divisions dealing with Establishment matters as well as Global Estate Management.
30 July 2021 Assumed charge as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Belarus.

Mr. Jha’s hobbies include reading and travelling.  He speaks English, Hindi and French.
